Barbados hurricane ready

Just five days into the 2019 Atlantic Hurricane season, the Department of Emergency Management and the Barbados Defense Force,are ensuring that  all emergency systems are ready.

The two organizations began phase one of the Barbados National Disaster exercise today with a discussion called ‘Exercise Complex Trident,’ at the Accra Beach Hotel.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the exercise, which will go on for the next two days, was Minister of Home Affairs, Edmund Hinkson. He said that with Barbados being a small society, all levels of preparedness is needed.

Mr. Hinkson added that Barbadians should not be complacent, stressing that it would take just one disaster to wipe out the Barbadian economy.
