Communications Manager Joy-Ann Haigh Among 75 at Barbados Water Authority To Say Goodbye

A round of public sector layoffs continued today with 75 employees of the Barbados Water Authority getting their retrenchment letters. About fifty of these were from BWA’s headquarters at the Pine.

Union sources said those departing the organisation included both managers and technical staff with some people also taking retirement packages. Those sources said, “The process is going smoothly, people were getting their cheques and there was not a lot of fuss.”

Those leaving the BWA include a prominent face of the organization, Joy-Ann Haigh, the head of the communications and rapid response department. In a post on her facebook page, Ms. Haigh announced that she was today saying goodbye to her job at the BWA after more than eight years. She disclosed that her job had been made redundant and therefore, “my journey must come to an end”. Ms. Haigh said it had been a pleasure and a privilege and added that she would miss both the staff and the customers.
